Friday Favorites – For the love of reading!

Back in the summer of 2022 I decided to read a book.

The book – The Summer I Turned Pretty. I wasn’t much into reading then, but decided to give it a go. I would pick it up, read a chapter or two and put it down, pick it up, read another chapter or two…and then I put it down. This went on for months. We drove down to Seaside Beach for spring break in 2023 and it was then that I decided to finally sit and finish the dang thing – and I did!

It wasn’t until another fun vacation out west to Yellowstone in the summer of 2023 that I packed along Verity. We were in the car for about 22 hours, so I figured there might be a chance that I’d pick up a book and read it while en route…and read it I did. Verity was THE book that made me discover my love for reading! At one point I turned to Jon and commented, “I like reading…” He thought I’d have more to say, so he asked, “Reading what?!” I replied, “Just reading…like in general, I like reading!” LOL! I stayed up in a hotel in the middle of Wyoming reading until the early morning hours just needing to reach the end of Verity. Mind. Blown.

It’s been a whirlwind of adventure in my mind ever since and I love that I’ve been feeding my brain! I could sit and review each of these books, BUT, I’m just so dang proud of each time I snuggled up with a cozy blanket, a coffee in hand and took it all in! I’m currently reading A Court of Mist and Fury and boy-oh-boy – I never took myself for a reader of fantasies, faeries and whimsical lands, but these books are proving otherwise!

I’m hoping to read at least 52 books this year! I’m three books deep so far for 2024 and we shall see how long the Sarah J. Maas books (A Court of Thorns and Roses) takes me, but I’m here for it and I’m loving it!

I’d absolutely love to hear what you’ve been reading and any suggestions you may have!

The Summer I Turned Pretty // Verity // Waypoints // Outlander // The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo // It Ends With Us // It Starts With Us // Slammed // It Happened One Summer // Things We Never Got Over // The Christmas Fix // Things We Left Behind // The Housemaid // Reminders of Him // A Court of Thorns and Houses

My first two books of the year! So, sooooo very good!

Oh aaaaaand – I’ve been hanging out over on BookTok Baddies on Facebook, if anyone would like an invite, just let me know! I’ve been finding so many great recommendations over there.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by!

Marie 🙂
