DIY Shabby Chic Witch Hats

Let’s make some shabby chic witch hats!

When thinking about decorating Jane’s bedroom for Halloween, I was thinking I wanted to keep things fun and not too spooky.

I recently added pink bead board and some floral wallpaper to her room and it’s very cottage core. So, I decided to attempt to make something to go along with the cottage vibe and came up with the idea of shabby chic witch hats!

I grabbed some party hats, some paper plates and some pretty fabric and headed home to plug in my hot glue gun and get to work!

The first thing I did was turn over my plate, and then trace out and cut an oversized piece of fabric in the shape of a circle.

Hot glue was added to the edges of the upside down plate and then I added the fabric to the plate.

I pressed down the edges as if it were a pie. The shabbier, the better. 🙂

I then cut a second piece of fabric in another oversized circular shape and hot glued it on the other side of the plate. This circle would act as the bottom/brim of the “hat.”

Next, I took the party hat and hot glued the hat to another piece of fabric and rolled it until I could hot glue the edges.

I then hot glued any remaining fabric to the inside of the hat to clean it up.

After the top of the hat was ready, I hot glued the party/witch hat to the plates…

Then to bring it all together, I added a strip of ribbon to the hats for a completed witch hat look!

In attempting to figure out how I’d be hanging up these cute little shabby witch hats, I remembered that I had a witch broom in my basement! So I hung up the broom, grabbed some fishing line and tied the hats at various heights from the broom above Jane’s bed.

I very much love how these sweet little shabby chic witch hats turned out and Jane was excited to see them when she came home from school!

What do you think? I’m loving the sweetness of it all. 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by! These were so much fun to make!
