Disney Recap – Days #1 & #2

I’m bAAAaaack and yup, you read the title correctly, Disney Recap numero uno!  I’m about to bombard this little blog of mine with pictures upon pictures of our recent trip to the Happiest Place on Earth…this is going to go on for days, people…days I say!  #sorrynotsorry

So, if you came here for home decor ideas or diy projects, you may want to come back next week, because it’s about to get cray cray with family vacation photos up in here.

Where do I start?  I guess from the beginning…our road trip and our first day at Magic Kingdom.  Sound good?
Buckle up because there are approximately 50 pictures in this bad boy.

Hold on tight, here we gooooooo!

About two weeks ago Jon and I woke up at 2:40 a.m., woke up the kiddos at 3:00 a.m. (they were crazy excited), and then we were off…we were headed south!  Jon drove first and put in a good 4-5 hours of driving time during the wee hours of the morning.

We stopped to pick up some coffee and not long after caffeine was quickly running through my veins and it was my turn in the driver’s seat.  This is what happens when you’re driving with your glasses, but it’s suuuuper sunny outside and you don’t have Transitions lenses.

I, at the moment, thought it was hilarious.  Also, I’ve never realized that my ears are so pointy.  LOL!

The kids were tired, which was good…less alert hours of endless driving…

Over the course of 18 hours (and one hotel stay south of Atlanta) we had a lot of fun.  The kids, when not sleeping, watched movies, played on their Leap Frogs and I brought along lots of fun “gifts” and snacks for them to open throughout the duration of the trip (more to come on this later).

At last, we had arrived.

I rolled down my window at one point and sang Disney songs as we approached our hotel.

Annoying to Jon?  Yes.  Exhilarating to me?  You betcha!

Dreams really do come true…  😉 😉

We arrived and as fun as the ride was, everyone was excited to get out of the car and Henry was more than ready to open our hotel room door with his Magic Band.
The first monorail ride!
Henry spotted the monorail and even though we weren’t going to the park until the next day, we still ended up going for a ride.

We then took a bus ride to Disney Springs…

…then this happened…we hadn’t even done anything yet!  LOL!
My tired little babies…

We had never been to Disney Springs before and I must say, it was pretty cool.  There were lots of cute shops and lots of yummy places to eat.

Walt was there, too.
Very cute place!

The next morning, we were off to Magic Kingdom and I must say that I was looooving Jon’s look!  He was in full-on-Dad-mode for sure.
Those Mickey ears, that backpack, his matching Mickey shirt… *swoon*

My men were looking adorable!

We arrived at Magic Kingdom and wouldn’t-you-know-it, Tinker Bell was there to greet us.
As you can see, the kids looked thrilled to be there.
It must’ve been a lot for them to take in or something because they.would.not.crack.a.smile!

What the heck?!
Jon and I kept saying, “You’re in Disney World.  Smile!!!!!”
Oh well, at least Jon and I were having a great time!
Thankfully, the smiles came back.  Whew.
One of the Disney Photographers captured this moment of me getting super excited for the kids to see Cinderella’s Castle…it was a true, genuine reaction, that’s for sure!  She was awesome.  I didn’t even know she was taking our picture!
…she also took this picture of Henry seeing the castle for the first time.

Priceless.  Absolutely priceless.

Seriously, guys….Magic Moments were tooootally worth it!  I would 100% recommend purchasing it and I plan to purchase it again in the future.
The Disney Photographers did such a great job capturing so many special moments…with everyone in the picture!
Oh, look at that – the Lost Boys showed up too!

…and so did Tinker Bell…again!
She’s all over the place. 😉  #pixiedust
Our first ride!

Selfie!

Swiss Family Robinson!

I loved watching Jon while in the parks.  He was constantly on a mission!
Am I the only one who thinks it’s totally hot (sorry family members who had to read that – but it’s true) to watch the father of your children assume the “Disney Dad” role?  Ahem…anyway…
Is it hot in here?  No?  Just me?  😉
Moving on…

The kids received licenses to drive!
Henry drove Jon while Eliza took me for a spin.  Yup.  I let her drive.

I don’t think she ever watched where she was driving.  It was a bumpy ride and I laughed the.entire.time!

This was as close as Henry was going to get to any characters.
He liked all of them………but from a safe distance………up above by about 15-20 feet………on a train……….going in the opposite direction………
As Olaf would say, “All good things, all good things.”

Monsters Inc.!
Almost!

The rain started to come down.
We knew rain was in the forecast, but it wasn’t supposed to start until later in the day.  Naturally, I left our rain boots and ponchos at our hotel, assuming that we’d return back to our room well before the rain would arrive.
Wrong.
It rained early and it became chilly, but the kids were troopers.  We somehow stayed warm and dry due to most rides/attractions being inside.  The silver-lining was that the rain kept the crowds away, so we were able to do and see many more things due to the lack of an overflow of people.

Happy in the rain.
For some weird reason Eliza found baby wipes in our backpack and demanded on holding them for several hours.  She was a happy girl, so who was I to argue?  Now, how do I PhotoShop those wipes out of about twenty pictures?  LOL

Here’s a “Marie and Jon selfie” saying, “We made it through an entire day at Magic Kingdom,” and me saying, “I need a hair dryer, pronto!”
But first coffee…and cookies…
…and dancing…
…and dinner.
We were having a great time and as you can see, so were the kids.
This picture below is right before dinner and it cracks me up because I wanted to finally get a picture of the kids wearing their matching shirts, but they apparently decided to become official Disney Greeters!
Can you say, ham (especially the one with the bow)?
I’ve been waiting for their paychecks to arrive in the mail.
Stay tuned, if you dare, for more of my Disney recap…
Thanks for stopping by!
Marie 🙂

  1. AAAAHHHH! I love this post so much!! I'm so glad that you guys had a great time. And if you stayed in a hotel just south of Atlanta that's right in my neck of the woods… Too bad we couldn't have met up! I can't wait to read all about the rest of your trip!

  2. LOL, my daughter didn’t crack a smile for a good 30 minutes after we arrived at the Magic Kingdom when we went in November. I had my camera all ready for an excited response, and I got nothing. She did love it once she warmed up to the park though! You got so many amazing photos! I so regret not doing the photo package when we went. Definitely next time. I love the shirts you guys wore – where are they from?
