I hope you all had a great week. Want to know what we’ve been up to over here?
Lucky you, it’s Five on Friday time!
Let’s do this!
Warning: This is a long “Five on Friday,” so buckle up!

The Crim Festival of Races!
The Crim Festival of Races has taken place every year in Flint, Michigan for the last 37 years. The races include those participating in the Special Olympics race, a Teddy Bear Trot, the 1 mile race, the 5K and 8K races and the 10 mile race. Approximately 50,000 people from across the country/world come into Flint to join in on the festivities and about 15,000 of those people are participants. For me, the amount of anticipation and excitement in the days leading up to the Crim are some of the most nauseating (in a good way) and exciting moments of the year!
My sister, Kimmy, and I have both participated in this race many times before. The first time we ever ran it together was after we had both had our first babies back in 2011; our little boys were 3 months and 4 months old. We didn’t run for time, rather we ran to prove to ourselves that we could make it to the finish line! Haha
This time, we trained for this race together through MapMyRun, while living 2 hours apart. We ran (and walked…#aintnoshame) the entire 10 miles together. Our first 5 miles were great and we really held it together. When the hills got tough at miles 5-7, Kimmy motivated me to stick with it.
When the race ended we hugged each other and told each other how proud we were of one another. I then promptly found a place to sit, while Kimmy took off to run another 3 miles (crazy talk), which, combined, is essentially a half marathon.
Can I just say this – Even though my sister is three years younger than me, I’ve always looked up to her; she’s an amazing wife and mother, she works hard at her job, and she’s somebody who’s truly making a difference in this world. She’s never ever been competition, instead, she’s an inspiration. I’m so proud to call her my sister! Thanks, for the run, girl!

On top of the run, I also went shopping with my niece/sister (she’s practically my sister) last weekend. It seems as though my sister, Kimmy and I are making it a tradition to go shopping with our niece every year in August. It’s always fun to watch the clothing she picks out over what the two of us would tend to lean towards, you know being a Mommy and all…LOL! We had a great time!

Oh my gosh, the day after the race I was staaaaarving! I was craving something delicious and Buffalo Wild Wings seemed like the perfect place to gorge myself. During dinner, the kids were hilarious as always and Jon and I stuffed our faces as fast as possible! 😉

Henry’s 4 Year Old Preschool Open House.
Oh. My. Gosh, you guys…Henry’s Preschool Open House went sooooo well.
Both kiddos demanded on wearing their new HUGE backpacks and they both had so.much.fun! Henry even smiled when the teacher asked to take his picture, well, you know the smile with his hands up to his face that I’ve been showing you guys throughout the summer, but still, it’s better than nothing!
We’re keeping our fingers crossed that this year will be better than last year. Let’s just say that there was a lot of crying involved last year from both Henry and myself. I know, I know – world’s smallest violin, right?
EEK! Anyhow, I’m thrilled for him! Only a couple more weeks until school begins. Wish us luck. 🙂
{FIVE}
Every week the kids and I get together with my girl, Sara and our friend Shannon for a play date. We’ve been getting together weekly for over a couple of years now and we finally decided to take a few pictures of our kids. What took us so long?
I love all of these kids so very much. It’s been amazing to watch them grow and learn and play together. I’m so fortunate to have found these two amazing Mommies. They’ve taught me so much and I can’t tell you how lucky I am to have them in my life. They’re the best.
Also, can we recreate this photo in 15 years, please?!
I hope you all had a great week and I hope you’re gearing up for an even better weekend!
Boy! Where do I begin? It’s been a busy and hilarious week over here, so I’m going to have to go ahead and break the rules and play catch up. Here we go! {ONE – THE ELSA WIG SAGA CONTINUES} Let’s start here. You guys, this wig. This wig. She cracks me up! {TWO…
Wow! You guys, I’m waaaay behind with my blogging and my blog reading. Where-oh-where have these last few weeks gone? I mean, I know I was sick somewhere in there, but man – I feel like it was Thanksgiving, then BAM! Here we are. Okay, okay – put on my girl pants and deal with…
Happy FRIDAY! Time to link up for some Five on Friday fun! This shower curtain! So, we’re in the middle of a mini bathroom reno. The kids’ bathroom/guest bathroom has desperately needed a new vanity for a year or two now. Apparently the sleek, lack of countertop or storage vanity that Jon and I picked…
It’s Friday and I, for one, am ecstatic! We’ve been busy around these parts and I’m longing for a somewhat low key weekend with Jon and the kids. Jon does have a CE class tomorrow which is about an hour out of town, but we get him to myself today and we’re heading to breakfast…
Happy Friday! We had a rough start to the week over here. Being a parent isn’t easy. Fortunately, there are ways to remedy tough parenting days. One word: wine. Last night, while at the grocery store, I had an amazing idea to buy a bottle of wine and enjoy some vino while painting our…
It’s that time again! Time for Five on Friday (a day late)! I can’t tell you how excited I am for it to be the weekend. I was sick all week and it.was.rough. I’m hoping to give my body what it needs this weekend, lots of rest and relaxation. Even though this past week was…
Oh my gosh, Eliza keeps tipping backwards while wearing the darn thing because she continues to put so much stuff inside. Dolls, toys, food, etc…pretty much anything and everything! LOL!
