Kids’/Guest Bathroom Makeover Plans

Hey there friends!

I thought I’d go back to my love of home decor for a tick-tock-second and share with you guys a few changes that are in the works over here.

The current state of the kids’ bathroom/guest bathroom is and has beenerrr…less than welcoming…

Here’s the countertop space we had to work with – yeah, it just wan’t cutting it.  Jon and I loved this vanity nine years ago.  It was so sleek and cool.  Heck, we didn’t have kids and we just wanted an ultra clean space.
Fast forward nine years and this space no longer accommodates our storage needs.

Like, not in the least!
P.S. – I’m super embarrassed to be showing these pics…

It was time.  Time for a solution!  I give you – our Funky Farmhouse Bathroom Makeover Plans!

While on the quest to giving our bathroom some much needed attention.  We figured we’d begin with enhancing the water flow.  We also wanted something that wasn’t going to rust.  So, we started with this trim kit…
Next up, this light fixture from Wayfair.  You guys, I ordered this yesterday while eating lunch and it arrived today while I was eating lunch!  Eek!  It needs to go up ASAP!  I can’t wait!
Our vanity did come with a pretty chrome faucet, in fact, it’s very similar to this one.  Buuuuuut, we decided to keep everything matchy-matchy, so over to Overstock I went and I purchased this pretty vintage faucet.
Those faucet handles…
Those…
Faucet…
Handles…
As much as I love, love, love this Pottery Barn mirror I was having a hard time imagining it in our space…
Just when I was about to throw in the towel, my awesome friend, Kristin, sent me these mirrors.  You guys, I was all, “YES!  YES!  YES!” ….“YES (one more for good measure 😉 ).”
If you need me I’m sure you’ll be able to find me in the coming weeks perusing aisle after aisle of every antique store for anything that’ll resemble one of these beauties…
All.  The.  Heart.  Eyes.

I tried to follow these links, but they all seemed to end at Pinterest.  If anyone knows the original source, please let me know.

After what seemed like months, I finally found the vanity that’ll fit our needs.  Length, depth, width, storage, counter space, height and color.  Check, check, check, check, check, check aaaaaaaaaand check!
This vanity is stunning!  It’s really pretty in this picture, but I was blown away with how pretty it is in person.
Our shower tile needs a little bit of a scrubbing.  We may also be able to darken up the grout by either removing the old grout and replacing it with new grout or by using a product that dyes the current grout color.
Fingers crossed I can talk Jon into doing one of them.  If not, we’ll just give her a good scrubbing, spruce things up a bit and call it a day.

I’m still considering adding beadboard, but haven’t made up my mind as of yet.  I love this stuff and I desperately want to incorporate it somewhere in our home…kitchen backsplash, perhaps????
Beadboard.  Source unknown.
I tried out all three of these paint colors and ended up going with Accessible Beige.
We don’t have a window in this particular bathroom, so it’s the perfect warmth for the space without it feeling too dungeon-like.  Honestly, any of these paint colors would look lovely in other well-lit spaces or larger bathrooms…Accessible

I still haven’t made up my mind about these hooks, but I love how informal they are for a kids bathroom, but then how funky they are for a guest bathroom.

What to do, what to do…
This shower curtain is as pretty in person as it is in this picture.  It’s a tad of a splurge, but BELIEVE me, it’s B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I’m looking forward to sharing more of our bathroom with you guys in the coming weeks.  It’s been so fun to dream!  Wish me luck on finding one of those mirrors!

Marie 🙂 🙂 🙂

I’m linking up with Nicki for Totally Terrific Tuesday!
