We’ve had a busy week over here, but it’s been a good one. Actually, the weeks are only going to become busier and busier until the kids get out of school in June. I’m trying to take it day by day. Does anyone else feel like May is as busy as December?
Okay, so, let’s get on with what this past week brought us!
ONE
Quinoa Recipe
I posted one of our favorite go-to recipes this week. This Quinoa Bowl is so healthy and delicious. I love these kinds of meals because I feel full afterwards, but not heavy.
TWO
Rub n’ Buff
Our home decor has changed quite a bit over the years. We’ve changed out some lighting, but this light hasn’t changed due to Jon wanting to wait for an electrician – it has two switches that lead to it and if memory serves us right, when this fixture was last installed it took the electrician a little longer than usual to get it up and running. So, as you can imagine, we don’t won’t to mess with it.
With that being said, I’ve decided to use Rub n’ Buff on it so that it’ll match more of our aesthetic (my friend, Sara, would be proud of me using that word). I’m going for a Coastal Grandma trend, with a hint of farmhouse/lakehouse living – have you heard about this style? I’ve never felt so understood!
That’s Jane in the background questioning what I was about to do… LOL!
Here’s a picture of the space.
As you can see, we’ve changed out the front foyer light and the dining light for more of a cozier vibe.
I’d loooove to get our kitchen backsplash changed over there in the right hand corner. But, one thing at a time…
As you can see, the fixture just doesn’t match. I’m hoping that by giving it an “Ebony” finish that at least the colors will go together.
THREE
DOLLAR STORE PLANNER
As I mentioned above, these next six weeks are going to be kind of nuts. My current planner is a mess AND the calendar stops in June, so I grabbed this cheap pocket planner from a dollar store. I think I’ll be investing in a fancy planner come fall, but for now, this should work just fine…I hope.
Here I am taking an out-of-the-shower picture without a lick of makeup on me just in order to show you these under-eye patches.
I love the cooling sensation of these patches and given that I have very dark circles under my eyes, I’ll try almost anything to help alleviate the darkness.
FIVE
THE KIDS
The kids have had a good week!
Henry was voted Student of the Month by his classmates.
He’s so very kind and empathetic. I wish all of you could meet him. He’s an old soul and he has the best intentions to do good in this world. He makes us so proud and everyday I’m sure to tell him just how proud he makes us.
Eliza has been in desperate need of some new clothes.
I recently ordered a few items from Old Navy and I went to Walmart to grab a couple more essentials for her.
These pajamas are from Walmart and they’re so cute, so of course we took a post bath/shower photo op!
Jane has become quite the little shadow. Anything Eliza says or does, Jane must do the same – hence the hand on her hip and picture!
Jane and I headed to library story time on Tuesday and we painted with shaving cream. She loved it. I’ll let the smiles in the pictures do the talking…
I designed the unit you see below and it was finally time to post a little bit about smaller units that can be found on Amazon, well basically anywhere these days!
My original blog post about this entertainment unit can be found here.
Phew! What an amazing week!
Thank you so very much for stopping by – I appreciate your support and friendship!
Aaaaaaaaaand it’s Fri-Yay!!! We’ve been surviving the Michigan temps while on our Spring Break Staycation. Every single day has felt like a Thursday for some reason. Aw, congratulations to Henry! That is so special! I got some gold under eye patches recently, too, but I STILL haven't tried them. I need to bust them out because I have giant bags under my eyes all the time. I was born with them so I highly doubt the patches will help, but I'm going to try! Haha.

Thanks so much! He was so proud and we were so happy for him. He's such an amazing boy. As for the patches, I mean, at least they look fancy! Haha!
